One of Australia’s premier sports broadcasters, known for bringing major events like the Premier League and UEFA Euro 2024 to our screens, their participation is set to be a highlight of this year’s summit.

Optus Sport will take centre stage in our Media stream with a compelling session titled “Growing the Game – How Investing in Broadcasting Women’s Football is Bigger than just a Rights Deal.”

This discussion promises to be a game-changer, showcasing how strategic investments in marketing, editorial storytelling, and product innovation are not just boosting viewership but also driving engagement and revenue for women’s sports.

The session will feature three speakers from Optus Sport:

  • Tess Rivett, Marketing Manager, will share cutting-edge marketing strategies that are expanding the reach of women’s sport, including effective campaigns and innovative content creation.
  • Lucas Pavlidis, Digital Content Lead, will discuss how Optus Sport is building a passionate fanbase through interactive features, community engagement, and the power of storytelling.
  • Stephanie Foran, Product and Subscription Performance, will reveal how tailored product developments are enhancing the viewing experience and creating new revenue opportunities for women’s sports.

We sat down with Stephanie Foran, Product and Subscription Performance to ask a few questions ahead of this year’s summit:

How can media coverage and broadcasting play a role in increasing visibility and support for women’s sports?

Media coverage can play its part by promoting fixtures for both the men’s and women’s matches equally to help raise the profile and visibility of women’s sports, as well as sharing the stories of the players in a way that fans can truly connect with them. Positive portrayals counter stereotypes and will lead to increased public support and advocacy for equal opportunities in sports.

What future trends or opportunities do you see for the continued growth of women’s sports?

The importance of cross-platform presence and telling stories where new fans are will continue to see significant growth. Tapping into player profiles and backgrounds will build higher connection and enable fans to follow players across their careers. Increasing the quality of the coverage and including in-depth analysis, dedicated Women’s Sport FAST channels, and compelling athlete profile content creates a richer viewing experience and deeper fan connection for the next generation of fans.

This session is designed to engage a wide audience, including sport administrators, broadcasters, athletes, sponsors, and brands dedicated to the growth of women’s sports. Attendees will walk away with actionable insights into the impact of strategic marketing, the importance of fan engagement, and the potential of innovative product development to unlock new revenue streams.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Optus Sport’s commitment to women’s sports and the impressive results they have achieved.
