Volleyball Australia receives multi-million dollar donation from Craig Carracher

Volleyball Australia has secured the a big financial contribution with a multi-million dollar donation from outgoing president Craig Carracher via the Australian Sports Foundation.

The landmark funding arrives as the national sporting organisation positions its elite and grassroots programs ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, reinforcing a multi-decade legacy of personal and commercial backing from one of the sport’s most influential leaders.

Carracher, who has served as Volleyball Australia president since 2013 and recently announced he will not seek re-election in 2026, has maintained a lifelong dedication to the discipline.

Beyond his executive governance roles, which include serving as First Executive VP of the Asian Volleyball Confederation and holding prominent positions on the FIVB Board of Administration and the Australian Olympic Committee, Carracher has consistently underwritten key milestones for Australian volleyball, from funding national team entries in international circuits to securing the financial patronage of major corporate partners.

His corporate entities, including The Living Company and Scape Australia, have long supported national competitions, beach tours, and the Australian Volleyball Super League.

Praising the funding, and highlighting its profound impact on the sport’s high-performance pipeline, Volleyball Australia CEO, Andrew Dee, said: “Craig’s commitment to volleyball in Australia is unequalled, and this donation reflects the same generosity of spirit he’s shown for more than thirty years.”

“Few people have given as much of themselves to Australian volleyball as Craig has, and this donation extends that legacy, ensuring the sport continues to thrive as we prepare the next generation of athletes to compete at another home Olympic Games,” Dee said. 

Emphasising the value of Carracher’s multi-layered leadership presence, Dee, added: “Craig’s various domestic and international roles provide crucial insight and influence at the tables where so many important decisions are made.”

“This, combined with his personal contributions and business insights, gives him a unique and powerful presence,” Dee added.

The injection of fund will bolster high-performance pathways, ensuring that Australian athletes receive optimal preparation as the nation builds toward a historic home Olympic campaign in Brisbane.
