UEFA Foundation for Children has announced a partnership with the European Club Association (ECA), to create a relief fund for Ukrainians affected by the ongoing conflict.
ECA member clubs will have until a final deadline of 17 June to apply for a contribution of €1 million (AUD$1.5 million) with donations ranging between EUR€25,000 (AUD$38,000) and EUR€50,000 (AUD$75,000).
The proceeds will provide humanitarian and emergency aid, which supports and provides opportunities for the integration and development of displaced children and families.
Commenting on ECA’s initial donations, ECA chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, said: “I am also very proud to announce that ECA will make available an initial €1 million financial contribution in supporting our member’s efforts in assisting the Ukrainian people.”
“Many of our clubs have also offered to find a safe place for Ukrainian youth academy players.,” Al-Khelaifi said.
Members clubs in countries with increased refugee numbers have been proactively providing support and resources, with ECA funds being distributed by the UEFA Foundation to different charitable projects.
Additionally, the ECA Ukrainian Relief Committee, which will be managed by the UEFA Foundation, has been established to approve projects of successful applicants.
