Supercars has announced a renewed naming rights partnership with Tyrepower, securing the brand’s title sponsorship of the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440 through to at least 2027.
The agreement marks a home-coming for the national retailer, which previously held the naming rights for Tasmania’s premier sporting event from 2014 to 2019.
Saturday’s second race will officially mark the 100th Supercars/ATCC race held at the venue, making Symmons Plains only the second circuit in history (alongside Western Australia’s Wanneroo Raceway) to reach the century milestone.
The value of the partnership is underscored by a recent $6 million funding boost from the Tasmanian Government. This investment includes $4.15 million to secure Supercars events through 2027 and $1.8 million for mandatory safety and amenity upgrades at the circuit. As a result, the “Apple Isle” will continue to host high-octane racing that attracts over 20,000 visitors annually and generates millions in local economic benefit.
Welcoming their return, Supercars chief revenue officer, Jamie Black, said: “As the shortest track on our calendar, Symmons Plains Raceway is home to some of the most intense door-to-door racing of the season…”
“We look forward to working with Tyrepower and delivering another great event,” Black said.
Tyrepower’s involvement extends beyond the event title; the organisation maintains deep-rooted ties within the paddock, supporting Chevrolet team Matt Stone Racing and driver Jack Le Brocq.
Tyrepower general manager, Rob Smith, noted: “Many fans are Tyrepower customers, whose passion for this sport helps keep our Tyrepower members in business.”
The 2026 format will feature the popular Super 440 structure: two 120-kilometre sprints on Saturday followed by a 200-kilometre endurance-style race on Sunday, ensuring maximum technical demand on the shortest lap of the championship.
