Toyota Australia, AFL Expand Community Partnership

Toyota Australia has expanded its ‘Good for Footy’ community partnership with the Australian Football League (AFL) by supporting Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, which aims to improve environmental outcomes and promote sustainability.

The deal will see one native tree planted for every point scored from Rounds 17 to 19 during the 2022 season to create the ‘Footy Forest’.

Commenting on the partnership, Toyota Australia chief marketing officer, Vin Naidoo, said: “Through its partnership with the AFL and the Good for Footy initiative, Toyota Australia aims to give back to local communities in meaningful ways,” he said.

“The Footy Forest will support the re-vegetation of communities across the country, showing Toyota’s wide-ranging commitment to sustainability,” he said.

Toyota Australia will also partner with AFL teams including the Adelaide Football Club to help grow ‘The Footy Forest’.

The Crows have also been commended on their sustainable practices and look forward to joining the initiative.

Adelaide Crows defender, Luke Brown, said: “This incentive gives us the opportunity to kick goals on and off the field, and will have an impact in communities around Australia,” he said.

“I’m sure Tex (Taylor Walker), Fog (Darcy Fogarty) and Shane (McAdam) will be doing their best to add to the tally.

“I’ve been lucky to see the joy that Toyota Good for Footy has brought to football clubs and communities, and I’m looking forward to see this new initiative have an impact in a different way.”

Planet Ark co-CEO, Rebecca Gilling, added: “To date, The Seedling Bank has provided funding to 90 communities around Australia who are restoring habitat and caring for our country, resulting in the planting of over 38,000 seedlings,” she said.

“We are proud to partner with Toyota Australia to continue the expansion of this fantastic program.”

Additionally, fans are being encouraged to get physically involved but if they are unable, people can make donations to Planet Ark.
