Top Super Netball Commercial Partnerships This Week: Thunderbirds, GIANTS

After a monumental week for Super Netball with Netball Australia naming a new CEO in Kelly Ryan, here are some commercial partnerships you may have missed.

Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds have announced a new major partnership with global food chain, Subway, as a principal partner for the next two years.

Netball SA CEO, Bronwyn Klei, said the partnership was momentous for netball in South Australia.

“We’re so excited to have Subway on board [and] their significant investment in our sport will benefit netballers of all ages across the state,” Klei said.

“Subway’s commitment only strengthens Netball SA’s sustainability, and we look forward to working with them for years to come.

“This announcement, in addition to recent funding for an $18 million upgrade of the Netball SA Stadium, means now is an incredibly exciting time for our sport,” she said.

Subway Australia country director, Geoff Cockerill, said the partnership will ensure young netballers throughout South Australia will have more opportunities to participate in the sport.

“Netball is the leading team sport for women and girls in Australia and we want to see this sport equality continue to grow, with every young person given the chance to participate and gain important skills,” Cockerill said.

“Subway’s partnership will help enable Netball SA continue to grow and operate local teams and club tournaments of all ages right up to their Super Netball team, the Thunderbirds.

“We also look forward to supporting these efforts by rewarding young netballers with exclusive Subway Player of the Match awards,” he said.

Elsewhere, GIANTS Netball has announced global investment and bond managing firm, PIMCO, as a major partner in a new three-year partnership.

PIMCO will now feature on the back of the GIANTS dress ahead of their derby match with the NSW Swifts.

Netball NSW chief executive, Tain Drinkwater, said: “This is a significant announcement for GIANTS Netball and the entire Netball community.

“To have a respected global organisation like PIMCO joining the GIANTS speaks to the exciting phase netball is in,” she said.

Managing Director and head of PIMCO Australia, Rob Mead, lauded GIANTS Netball for their efforts within the local community.

“GIANTS Netball do a wonderful job connecting with the local community and inspiring the next generation to live an active and healthy lifestyle,” Mead said.

“Over a few short years, the GIANTS have quickly built a reputation as one of the most exciting teams in the country and we’re looking forward to seeing what can be achieved in the coming years,” he said.
