With the 2022 NRL season just days away, here are the latest commercial partnerships across the NRL.
Penrith Panthers
The Penrith Panthers have signed a deal with global mobile phone company, Motorola, with Motorola becoming the official smartphone partner of the club.
Having already done successful deals with NBA franchises the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers, Motorola has begun to expand on its global reach as it links up with the Panthers.
Panthers Group CEO, Brian Fletcher, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Motorola to the Panthers corporate network.”
“It is a fantastic endorsement of our club to have the support of a globally recognised and respected brand like Motorola,” he said.
Motorola Australia and New Zealand head, Kurt Bonnici, said: “Motorola Australia is very excited to be partnering with such an iconic club as the Penrith Panthers.”
“Both Motorola and Penrith Panthers are renowned as leaders in their respective fields and have played an integral part in Australians’ lives throughout the decades,” he said.
South Sydney Rabbitohs
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have confirmed a partnership with the NSW Government, with the focus of challenging the idea gambling is a normal part of sport through the ‘Reclaim the Game’ project.
A recent study is suggesting over half of the 12-17 age bracket that watched NRL in 2019 saw a gambling advertisement during a game and one third of that bracket could recall those companies.
Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, said: “Our community plays such a big role in our club, and we felt that this is a campaign we can support to reduce community exposure to sports betting advertising.”
“Research shows that there are long term effects on families when sports betting causes harm in the community, and we feel the Reclaim the Game message is a positive for the fans and families that support our club and our sport,” he said.
Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have also joined forces with the Rabbitohs in support of the ‘Reclaim the Game’ initiative.
They will join teams from four other sports codes across Australia that will turn down sports betting sponsorships along with raising awareness for this issue.
Office of Responsible Gambling director, Natalie Wright, said: “Online sports betting is the fastest growing form of gambling and the NRL is the most popular sport to bet on in NSW.”
“The NRL fan-base is huge and gambling advertising is everywhere which means if you’re a supporter exposure it’s virtually inescapable,” she said.
Wests Tigers
The Wests Tigers have announced they have partnered with Momenta Advisors ahead of the 2022 season.
Momenta Advisors is an accounting, tax and business advisor service based in Oran Park, south-west of Sydney.
“As long time supporters of Wests Tigers, Momenta Advisors are thrilled to finally forge our partnership with the club,” Momenta Advisors said in a statement.
