nnastacia Palaszczuk has announced the NRL grand final crowd attendance will be capped at 75%, meaning if you were in the last 25% of purchasing tickets, 13,125 unlucky fans will be missing out.

In a press conference this morning, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, said: “It is going to be disappointing for people, but we have to take the health advice.

“Health advice is to move to stage 2.

“Stage 2 is 75 per cent capacity.

“That is what it would be.”

“Let me make it very clear that the health of Queensland’s comes first, and as soon as Dr Jeannette Young says we need to move into a lockdown, we will,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

Chief Health Officer for Queensland, Dr Jeannette Young, added that those lucky to attend must be wearing a mask in the venue at all times.

“In those larger venues, whether they are cinemas or theatres or sporting events, keep your masks on unless you are seated and eating or drinking.

“We know masks work,” Dr Young said.

National Rugby League CEO, Andrew Abdo, added: “We had two allocations of grand final tickets.

“The first was to the general public, and the second was aimed at fans of both grand final teams.

“The fairest way to determine who can attend the game is by prioritising the first 75 per cent to purchase tickets in each allocation.

“Any fan who no longer wants to attend will also be able to access a refund.

“I want to acknowledge fans who will now miss out on attending the grand final.

“I know you had been counting down the days to a once in a lifetime experience, and this will be difficult news to take, but this decision is out of our hands,” Mr Abdo said.
