The Global Institute of Sport (GIS) has unveiled their plans to expand into the Middle East, in collaboration with renowned football performance experts The Player. Prospective footballers from across the world now have the opportunity to pursue a GIS university degree while training, playing or working in a top-tier football organisation.

The newly introduced ‘Study & Play: Dubai’ program offers students an unparalleled chance to train and compete in cutting-edge facilities under the mentorship of UEFA A licensed coaches. In addition to their football endeavours, students enrolled in a specialised GIS online sports degree will benefit from local academic assistance and become part of a global cohort of GIS students pursuing the same degree program.

Open to applicants worldwide who wish to relocate to Dubai, successful candidates will have the chance to delve into the burgeoning football market of the Middle East, acquire professional skills, and apply for sports-related work placements that can shape their future both on and off the field.

Steven Taylor, Co-Founder of The Player and a former player Newcastle United footballer, has expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with GIS, emphasising the fantastic opportunities it presents to young athletes. He highlighted education as a key pillar of focus at The Player, stating the ability to offer high-level performance training alongside academic pursuits.

Sam White, Co-Founder of The Player and UEFA A licensed coach, echoed Taylor’s sentiments, highlighting the pride in introducing this partnership with Global Institute of Sport. He underscored the significance of providing young professionals and talented athletes the chance to combine academic studies with football training and career opportunities in Dubai.
