Tenpin Bowling Australia Add Wallaby Matt To’omua To Board

Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) have announced Australian Wallaby player and Melbourne Rebels captain, Matt To’omua, will join its board.

In a statement, TBA chairman, Jerome Joseph, said that To’omua’s experience will “provide a unique skill set to the governance of [bowling]”, citing his experience as the president of the Rugby Union Players Association and the player director of Rugby Players Welfare.

The role will see To’omua advising on improvement to TBA’s high-performance program, as well as supporting the constitutional modernisation initiatives.

Speaking on the announcement, Matt To’omua said: “Joining the TBA board is very exciting.”

“I will attempt to leverage my experience in high performance both as a player and rugby union players association president,” To’omua said.

“The opportunity to still be involved as an athlete and at the board level is something I’m very excited about.

“I have high aspirations of being involved in sports administration post my playing career, and I see this as an exciting part of that journey,” he said.

Rebels CEO, Baden Stephenson, said: “We’re pleased to hear about Matt’s appointment to TBA and it’s great to see the interaction between our Melbourne Rebels players in others sports utilizing a different set of skills.”

To’omua’s appointment is among TBA’s recent front office moves having appointed Rohan O’Neill as chief executive and Damien Smith as chief operating officer earlier this week.
