Telstra To Extend All Expiring Sponsorships

Telstra has announced they will extend all current sponsorships that are due to expire this year, due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Telstra CEO Andrew Penn Announcing Telstra’s Plan

As the Coronavirus has gripped the entire sporting world, forcing cancellations or suspensions of the majority of sports competitions, Telstra has announced a major commitment to all of its expiring partners.

Telstra media manager, Mathew Wu, told Sponsorship News the extension of sponsorships will be worth another 12 months and will help to support during the challenging times.

“We will be supporting our partners by automatically extending any sponsorships set to expire this year for another 12 months, to provide certainty to partners and the many causes we support,” Wu said.

“We continue to look at every aspect of our business to see what we can do for our employees, customers, suppliers and the economy more broadly, while we maintain a focus on long-term value creation,” he said.

While the full list of included partnerships has not been released, the automatic renewal pledge will include all levels of sport, from grass-roots to elite, and will also include Telstra’s partnerships in the Arts communities and any initiatives currently supported by Telstra.

Telstra CEO, Andrew Penn, said in a statement this is about supporting Australia’s economy and protecting the long-term future of individuals and businesses.

“Through these initiatives, we can play our part in the national response to this rapidly-evolving situation,” Penn said.

We continue to look at every aspect of our business to see what we can do for our employees, customers, suppliers and the economy more broadly, while we maintain a focus on long-term value creation.

“We continue to monitor the situation, while working closely with regulators and the government.

“Our absolute focus remains on team well-being, supporting our customers and playing our part in the national response,” he said.
