Tabcorp Restructures with Reports of Job Cuts and Leadership Shake-Up

image

Tabcorp is undergoing significant changes as reports emerge of up to 200 staff redundancies, part of a broader realignment under CEO Gill McLachlan. Among those believed to be affected is Vanessa Sanford, General Manager of Marketing and Media, who joined Tabcorp in May 2023 after holding high-profile roles at Commonwealth Bank and Ikon Communications.

Sanford played a key role in launching a major rebranding initiative for TAB, aimed at modernizing the brand and connecting with a broader audience. Her departure, if confirmed, marks a notable shift in Tabcorp’s leadership as the company repositions its workforce.

The restructuring follows McLachlan’s push for operational changes, including requiring all staff to return to the office five days a week and prioritising hires with strong racing industry knowledge. These moves are designed to align Tabcorp with its long-term strategic objectives.

Described by media as having the “Gillotine effect,” a play on the CEO’s name, the redundancies underscore the magnitude of Tabcorp’s transformation efforts.
