T20 World Cup Fielding Tracked By Sportradar

Sportradar, the official data supplier for the International Cricket Council (ICC), has announced that live fielding data will be recorded through a new tracking tool.

The system, developed by Sportradar, will debut at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where it will record 80 data points per ball and will be available to experts and casuals alike.

The data will be used in the ICC’s official website and mobile app, as well as provided to fans through match broadcasts.

Teams will look to improve performance through data analytics, with players being judged on their fielding for the first time.

Commenting on the new technology, Sportradar managing director of strategy, sports solutions, Sam Taylor, said: “Our aim is to create the world’s most intelligent cricket platform and the latest enhancements to our data capture tool is yet another step in this direction.”

“We are committed to delivering innovation and technology to help grow the sport and are thrilled that these game-changing new features are being used for the first time at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” he said.

This latest new technology follows the introduction of augmented reality to the ICC app.
