Stan Sport expands portfolio via exclusive multi-year deal with Rugby Sevens

Stan Sport has announced an exclusive multi-year partnership with SVNS, formerly known as the World Rugby Sevens Series. This collaboration underlines Stan Sport’s dedication to becoming the premier destination for rugby enthusiasts and solidifies its position as the ‘Home of Rugby’ in Australia.

In a fresh format, SVNS 2024 is gearing up to deliver festival-like events hosted in eight cities. These tournaments – played in an abbreviated format of seven players per side and games consisting of seven-minute halves – will serve as a thrilling prelude to the highly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Rugby Sevens will once again take centre stage, following its successful Olympic debut in 2016.

What sets this revamped series apart are its unique destinations, spanning across seven months and shining a spotlight on 12 world-class men’s and women’s teams. The action is all set to kick off in December.

The men’s teams participating in SVNS 2024 are Argentina, Australia, Canada, Fiji, France, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Samoa, South Africa, Spain and USA. The women’s competition features Australia, Brazil, Canada, Fiji, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and USA.

This series arrives on the heels of an extraordinary year for women’s rugby. In a significant stride towards promoting gender equality, each of the eight rounds in SVNS 2024 will ensure equal pay and combined men’s and women’s events.

“Rugby Sevens is the perfect addition to our Stan Sport lineup,” said Ben Kimber, the Stan Director of Sport.

“Building on the strength of our superb international slate of rugby, and connecting to the Paris Olympics where the Australian men’s and women’s teams will be right in the mix. Sevens is fast, physical and entertaining year-round.

“World Rugby are investing in reinventing and growing this version of their game and we’re ready to showcase it to a wider audience.”

The inclusion of SVNS on Stan Sport reinforces its already robust rugby catalogue, featuring premier tournaments such as the Rugby World Cup 2023, The Rugby Championship, the Bledisloe Cup, Wallabies and Wallaroos home Tests, the 2025 British & Irish Lions Series, Spring Tour (Autumn Nations Series), Super Rugby Pacific, Super W, World XV and the Six Nations Championship.

The 2023-24 SVNS series begins in Dubai on December 2-3, followed by Cape Town the following week. Perth’s HBF Park is scheduled to host rounds in both 2024 and 2025, with its leg this season taking place from January 26-28, 2024. The series will then journey through Vancouver, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Singapore, culminating in the final round in Madrid from May 31 to June 2.

In Madrid, the best of the best will compete for the title, while teams ranked ninth to twelfth will battle alongside top contenders from the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series for entry into SVNS 2025.

For rugby enthusiasts in Australia, Stan Sport promises an ad-free experience, providing every round of the SVNS 2024 series live and on-demand.
