Sport NSW Calls for Legacy Investment ahead of 2032 Brisbane Olympics

Ahead of the 2023 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sports NSW is calling on the New South Wales Government to invest in a legacy program to benefit community sport throughout the state.

Alongside Elevate 2042, the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Legacy Strategy, Sports NSW highlights the New South Wales Government’s responsibility to invest in programs, facilities, leadership and major sporting events as a key driver in supporting and encouraging people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport.

Forecasting the significant opportunity that Brisbane 2032 brings to sport in Australia, in particular the need to capitalise on heightened levels of inspiration, engagement and participation at community level, Sports NSW is calling for strategic investment in sport across New South Wales to capitalise on this interest.

The organisation has also highlighted the need for initiatives that go beyond immediate gain, instead prioritising a lasting legacy that will benefit future generations in the form of sustained financial investment in sporting infrastructure.
