Australian rugby has secured a significant commercial boost, with SMARTECH announced as the official naming rights partner for both Super Rugby Pacific and Super Rugby Women’s competitions in 2025.
The partnership will see the SMARTECH logo prominently displayed on the playing shorts of all four Australian Super Rugby Pacific clubs and the five teams competing in Super Rugby Women’s. Rugby Australia (RA) CEO Phil Waugh welcomed the collaboration, highlighting SMARTECH’s alignment with the values of teamwork and excellence.
“We are delighted to welcome SMARTECH to the Australian rugby family and to have our Super Rugby competitions supported by such a highly respected market leader,” said Waugh. “The awards SMARTECH have received in the last two years are a clear demonstration that they deliver on their stated values of teamwork and impeccable service.”
This agreement also marks the conclusion of Buildcorp’s tenure as the foundational sponsor of Super W since its inception in 2018. Waugh praised Buildcorp for its contributions, stating, “I’d also like to thank Buildcorp for the leadership role they played in sponsoring Super W from its formation through to 2024 and for elevating the women’s game generally.”
SMARTECH, known for its partnerships with leading technology manufacturers such as HP, Epson, Canon, and Agfa, sees the rugby sponsorship as a natural extension of its brand presence. SMARTECH Executive Chairman and CEO Vincent Nair expressed pride in securing the naming rights for both competitions.
“It is with great privilege that SMARTECH Business Systems steps onto the field as the naming rights partner for the Super Rugby Pacific and Super Rugby Women’s competitions,” said Nair. “We are honoured to partner with such a prestigious organisation as Rugby Australia and represent some of the world’s greatest athletes.”
Nair also emphasized the company’s commitment to excellence, noting that SMARTECH has been named an employer of choice for two consecutive years. “This achievement is largely due to our amazing team, and we look forward to a fantastic season supporting Australian rugby.”
One of the most significant aspects of this partnership is the unified sponsorship across both Super Rugby Pacific and Super Rugby Women’s. This signals a strong commitment to gender equity in sports sponsorship and the growing commercial viability of women’s rugby.
“To have the same naming rights partner in SMARTECH across both the men’s and women’s Super Rugby competitions in 2025 demonstrates the enormous progress that has been made,” Waugh noted.
With the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific and Super Rugby Women’s seasons set to deliver thrilling competition, the partnership with SMARTECH provides a solid foundation for further growth, enhanced visibility, and financial sustainability in Australian rugby.
