Sky TV secures exclusive rights extension for US PGA Championship and Senior PGA

Sky, the UK’s pay-TV leader, has officially extended its broadcasting rights for the upcoming three editions of the US PGA Championship, solidifying its commitment to golf coverage. The announcement also includes an extension for the US Senior PGA Championship from 2024 to 2026.

This renewal follows the previous agreement between Sky and the PGA of America, spanning from 2019 to 2023 and concluding after the recent PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in New York.

Sky has been a stalwart in golf coverage for several decades, with occasional interruptions in 2017 and 2018 when the BBC and Eleven Sports took over. The 2024 PGA Championship is to be played at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, from May 13 to 19, while the Senior PGA Championship will run from May 23 to 26 in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

In the UK and Ireland, Sky’s comprehensive golf portfolio encompasses all four men’s major tournaments, women’s majors, the Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup Europe v USA competitions, DP World Tour, Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour. With over 100 individual tournaments, Sky delivers unparalleled coverage through its dedicated Sky Sports Golf Channel.

Jonathan Licht, Sky Sports managing director, expressed enthusiasm about the extension.

“We’re really pleased to be able to confirm this extension with the PGA and continue the brilliant relationship that has enabled us to deliver the best possible coverage to golf fans across the years,” Licht said.

“It’s been great to see our viewing figures and golf audience continue to grow, and we know we have an amazing opportunity over the next three years to continue to grow the sport, alongside our great partners at the PGA.”

The most recent renewal between Sky and the PGA Tour occurred in June 2022. In May of the same year, Sky secured rights to the prestigious US Open major until 2025, extending coverage to include the US Women’s Open, the US Women’s Amateur Championship, the Curtis Cup Match, the US Senior Open and the US Amateur Championship.

In the United States, Paramount covers the PGA Championship, with CBS Sports network airing the weekend rounds.
