After securing 4 medals during the 2024 Games, Simone Biles has reinforced her status as a decorated gymnast, a global sports icon and an exemplar in athlete brand building.

Biles’ achievements in Paris bring her career total to 11 Olympic medals, making her the most decorated U.S. women’s gymnast in history.

But it’s her success in the arena is paralleled by her thriving business ventures that is most impressive. While she is set to receive $135,000 from Team USA’s medal payout system, the larger financial opportunities are yet to come. Biles is gearing up for the Gold Over America Tour (G.O.A.T.), a nationwide gymnastics tour that will take her and other top gymnasts to major venues like Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Sponsored by Athleta, a women’s apparel brand owned by Gap, this tour highlights Biles’s strategic move away from Nike in 2021. The tour is poised to be a commercial success, with ticket prices starting at $50 and VIP packages reaching several hundred dollars. Biles’s endorsement portfolio further includes deals with Visa and the hair product brand K18, underscoring her status as a powerhouse in athlete marketing.

While Biles has not confirmed her participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, throughout her career she has illustrated the power of athletic excellence combined with strategic brand building. Her journey is a testament to the potential of athletes to transcend their sport and become influential figures in the global marketplace.
