Rugby Australia Adopts Amazon’s Alexa For New Fan Engagement Experience

Rugby Australia has integrated a new fan experience into Amazon’s Alexa device, which can be used during the Wallabies Rugby World Cup Opener Against Fiji this weekend.

Rugby Xplorer is Rugby Australia’s all-in-one fan experience which is now available on Amazon’s hands-free voice service Alexa.

Wallaby fans will be able to follow the team’s journey through Japan simply by asking Alexa to tap into a range of exciting features including full LIVE audio coverage of every match in the tournament.

“The use of voice technology is rapidly growing in Australia and around the world and we are excited to be one the early adopters of this technology in Australia, which offers Rugby fans incredibly easy access to some great content,” Rugby Australia Head of Technology, Kevin Stafford, said.

The service will also offer exclusive features and news from inside the Wallabies team camp – something that has never been done before, a daily wrap of each day’s events, official team press conferences, and RUGBY.com.au’s weekly show Rugby Nation.

Kate Burleigh, Country Manager, Alexa Skills said: “It’s fantastic to see Rugby Australia creating another way for Wallaby fans to connect with their favourite team.

“We’re always excited to see developers enhance the fan experience through voice on Alexa.”

The service will be expanded following the game’s showpiece event to cover elite-level competitions such as Vodafone Super Rugby and Buildcorp Super W, through to grassroots community Rugby competitions.

To access the Rugby Xplorer skill just ask your Alexa-enabled device, “Alexa, launch Rugby Xplorer” or to go straight to a live game just say “Alexa, stream the Wallabies game.”
