Richmond Football Club Joins DonateLife as Official Community Partner

The Richmond Football Club has officially become a DonateLife community partner, launching a strategic initiative to increase national awareness regarding organ and tissue donation.

The partnership focuses on leveraging the club’s extensive reach to educate Australians on the life-saving potential of transplants and the necessity of donor registration.

The collaboration is a mechanical necessity for DonateLife’s public health objectives, as the Tigers will utilize their digital channels to distribute culturally appropriate content and information.

Richmond executive general manager of commercial, Daniel Cullinan, noted that the club aims to use its platform to leave a positive community impact by teaching Australians how to become donors.

“We are proud to be aligned with DonateLife to help raise important awareness around organ and tissue donation.”

“We look forward to using the power and reach of the Richmond channels to help educate Australians on how they can become donors and the life-saving impact it can have,” Cullinan said.

Emphasising that partnerships with high-profile sporting organizations like Richmond are critical for building support, particularly among younger Australians, DonateLife CEO, Lucinda Barry AM, added: “Community partnerships, like the one with the Tigers, helps us to get more people registered as organ and tissue donors, especially younger Australians.”

“The more people who register and talk to their families, the more lives can be saved,” she said.

The initiative is part of a broader federal push, with the Australian Government recently awarding grants to 13 DonateLife community partners through the Organ and Tissue Authority’s Community Awareness Grants.

These partners are tasked with hosting DonateLife Week events and engaging with community leaders to facilitate family discussions regarding donation decisions.
