The 2025 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio has concluded with record-breaking results, cementing its place as the premier destination for trade coverage across AFL digital platforms.
Broadcast live from Marvel Stadium and co-produced with SEN (Sports Entertainment Network), this year’s Deadline Day captivated fans nationwide.
AFL executive general manager, customer and commercial, Bec Haagsma, credited the success to the fans’ passion and the partnership with SEN.
“The interest in Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio continues to grow, with more than 50 million total minutes consumed across the period, a testament to our fans’ passion and our team’s commitment to exceptional coverage,” Haagsma said.
Echoing the sentiment, SEN CEO, Craig Hutchison, added: “Trade Radio has become a cultural phenomenon for footy fans. These results show the power of collaboration and the audience’s deep love for the game.”
More than 922,000 plays were recorded, with audiences consuming over 17 million minutes of content across audio and video formats. Over 150,000 unique users tuned in for the dramatic final hour as deals came down to the wire.
Social media engagement surged, with more than three million video views across AFL Trade Radio channels and over 500,000 views on the top-performing post of the day.
Video streaming alone delivered an impressive 9.6 million minutes consumed, averaging 25 minutes of viewing per user, while audio listening exceeded seven million minutes.
Fans were treated to unparalleled access, including exclusive interviews with key agents and club representatives — from Tom Petroro discussing Zach Merrett’s trade ambitions to Robbie D’Orazio reacting to Charlie Curnow’s move to the Sydney Swans.
AFL.com.au’s trade experts Cal Twomey and Riley Beveridge once again broke the biggest stories live, with behind-the-scenes footage capturing every twist from inside club trade rooms.
The results reflect remarkable year-on-year growth, including a 25% increase in total minutes consumed, 115% surge in video plays, and a 74% boost in podcast downloads. Across the 15-day trade period, which began during Grand Final week and ended October 15, Trade Radio amassed over 2.5 million plays, up 32% from 2024.
With record engagement across AFL.com.au, the AFL app, and social channels, Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio 2025 has set a new benchmark for fan-driven sports media.
