Raiders and Mounties extend Partnership To Advance Women’s Pathways

The Canberra Raiders have announced the extension of their partnership with Mounties for an additional two years, a move aimed at further advancing their women’s pathways programs.

This collaboration, which first began in anticipation of the Raiders’ inaugural NRLW season in 2023, has created vital opportunities for players to hone their skills.

Commenting on the partnership, Raiders CEO, Don Furner, said: “We’ve worked with the Mounties Group over several years and found them to be very professional, inherently prioritising the game and player development.”

Raiders NRLW coach, Darrin Borthwick, added: “It’s terrific to know our players can return to play, and Mounties have demonstrated that this arrangement works seamlessly.”

As he underscored the partnership as a testament to their commitment to fostering both the personal and athletic development of female players, ultimately contributing to the fortification of stronger athletes and communities.

Historically, the Raiders and Mounties have shared a strong affiliation, having partnered from 2012 to 2020 within the NSW Cup competition.

Furthermore, ten members of the Raiders’ 2024 NRLW squad benefited from their time at Mounties last season, whether aiding in recovery from injuries or ensuring players maintain their match fitness during the season.

Recently, Sydney-based Raiders NRLW players have also trained alongside the Mounties’ Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership squad, setting the stage for the NRLW pre-season, which will commence during this month of May.

Last April, Raiders NRLW staff and several Sydney-based players participated in a comprehensive training session at Aubrey Keech Reserve.

This event featured participation from female players across all levels, including athletes from Under 14 through to the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership.
