R.M.Williams Unveils “Distinctly Australian” Uniforms for 2026 Commonwealth Games

Australian heritage brand R.M.Williams has been announced as the official ceremonial and village uniform partner for Commonwealth Games Australia ahead of the 2026 Glasgow Games. The collaboration continues the brand’s legacy of supporting national sporting identity, providing a cohesive visual narrative for over 500 athletes and team members.

The partnership ensures that the delegation maintains a professional and unified presence while navigating the logistical and climatic challenges of an international multi-sport event.

R.M.Williams Combines Heritage and Indigenous Artistry

The 2026 collection is built on the foundation of Australia’s traditional green and gold sporting palette. However, the design evolves this heritage by integrating Indigenous design elements throughout the graphics and detailing. The artwork serves as a central symbol of “togetherness,” representing the diverse backgrounds of the athletes converging into a single national team.

Commenting on the partnership, long jump world junior champion, Delta Amidzowski, said: “I think R.M.Williams have done an incredible job.”

“It definitely represents much more than just putting on a piece of clothing.

“It’s our culture, it’s our heritage, so it’s definitely going to give all us athletes a lot of confidence,” Amidzowski said.

Versatility for the Glasgow Climate

Recognising the unpredictable nature of Glasgow’s summer weather, the collection prioritises layering and versatility. The kit includes:

  • Formal Ceremonial Wear: Tailored blazers and the brand’s signature handcrafted leather boots.
  • Village and Casual Wear: Puffer jackets, organic cotton t-shirts, and sneakers designed for daily comfort.
  • Inclusive Engineering: Inclusive sizing ensures the entire delegation, regardless of body type or discipline, receives a custom-fit experience.

Sustainability and Craftsmanship

Central to the 2026 uniform strategy is a commitment to reduced environmental impact. R.M.Williams has utilised recycled nylon, organic cotton, and recycled linings across the range.

While many pieces are mass-distributed for the 500-strong team, select items continue to be produced in the R.M.Williams workshop, maintaining the brand’s reputation for high-quality Australian craftsmanship.
