Santos has renewed its commitment to Port Adelaide with a partnership extension that sees them become the club’s co-major partner.
This renewed agreement enhances Santos’ ongoing commitment to the club, particularly regarding the highly regarded Aboriginal Power Cup, which serves as a pivotal educational initiative for First Nations students, along with support for Port Adelaide’s AFLW team.
For the first time, supporters will see the Santos logo displayed on the Power’s AFL guernsey, which appeared against their match against Geelong during round 10.
Commenting on the partnership, Port Adelaide Football Club CEO, Matthew Richardson, said: “We are excited to have Santos further their commitment to Port Adelaide, now featuring their logo prominently on our AFL guernsey,”
“Santos’ partnership has been integral as a major supporter of our AFLW team since its inception and has significantly contributed to the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup program, which has been running for 17 years.
“This venture has recently expanded into remote Northern Territory communities, demonstrating a remarkable impact on school attendance through an innovative pilot program.”
“Our shared mission to build better communities provides a strong foundation for our collaboration. Having the Santos logo on both our AFL and AFLW guernseys fills us with pride,” Richardson said.
Santos CEO and managing director, Kevin Gallagher, added: “The Santos Aboriginal Power Cup stands out as the longest-running joint education and AFL community program for Indigenous students in the Australian professional sports scene.”
“Our support for the AFLW team began last year, and I am eagerly anticipating the debut of the Santos logo on the men’s guernsey this afternoon,
“Ultimately, our partnership with Port Adelaide is rooted in our commitment to investing in the communities we inhabit.
“By leveraging the motivational power of sport, we can help young people develop confidence, hone social and leadership skills, and forge essential networks, inspiring them to achieve their educational aspirations and pursue their dreams.
“Engaging nearly 6,500 students, it aligns with the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), with an impressive 94 percent of participants completing the program, paving their way to Year 12 success and further educational opportunities,” Gallagher said.
Santos has partnered with Port Adelaide since 2008 and has witnessed firsthand how sport can inspire young people while nurturing resilient families and communities.
