The Perth Bears made history by signing their first major West Australian partnership with Gage Roads Brewing Co., marking the brewery’s debut sponsorship in the NRL.
The agreement unites Australia’s newest NRL franchise with the nation’s leading independent, Aussie-owned brewer, setting a new benchmark for NRL shorts sponsorship value.
Beyond shorts branding, the deal granted exclusive national pourage rights, joint fan activations, beer collaborations, and community events designed to connect supporters across Perth and North Sydney.
Head coach, Mal Meninga, hailed the partnership as a “historic moment,” noting that Gage Roads’ entry into rugby league symbolised the strong local support backing the Bears since their establishment.
Bears CEO, Anthony De Ceglie, described the collaboration as a perfect match between two proudly West Australian brands sharing local excellence and national ambition.
“This partnership brings together fans from both coasts.”
“It’s about celebrating community and creating something truly Australian — I can’t wait for fans to enjoy a pint of ‘Bears beer’ at Gage Roads’ Fremantle brewery,” De Ceglie said.
Echoing the sentiment, Gage Roads founder, John Hoedemaker, highlighted the shared values between sport and beer.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, Gage Roads has grown from a Fremantle startup to Australia’s leading independent brewer, with its beers enjoyed nationwide.
