The Penrith Panthers have formalized a partnership with Western Sydney University through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aimed at fostering community engagement, education, and research initiatives within the Western Sydney region.

This collaboration is designed to enhance grassroots sport, open new educational pathways, and implement initiatives that yield tangible benefits for the community.

The MOU outlines several key areas of focus, including community engagement programs, career development initiatives, media collaborations, and research efforts exploring the broader impact of sport on the community.

The agreement emphasises strategic initiatives to enhance sports facilities and support programs, reflecting a mutual commitment to growth and inclusivity in the region.

Commenting on the partnership, Panthers chairman, Peter Graham, said: “This agreement is about more than sport, it’s about creating lasting opportunities for the people of our region.”

Additionally, Graham believes the partnership will foster a stronger future through educational initiatives, community programs, and research.

Professor George Williams, vice-chancellor and president of Western Sydney University, added: “Our shared commitment to community engagement in the Western Sydney region is key to our partnership with Penrith Panthers.”

“Together, through education and engagement, we can provide new and unique opportunities to support our people,” Williams said.

Highlighting the transformative power of education, Williams affirmed that collaboration with the Panthers on engaging, real-life learning programs is vital for ensuring the long-term success of communities in the region.

This MOU is set to enable both the Penrith Panthers and Western Sydney University to contribute meaningfully to the region, reinforcing their shared vision of enriching the lives of those in Western Sydney.
