Origin 2022 Sets Australian Record for Most Live Streamed Program.

Channel 9’s 2022  State of Origin, boasting a live BVOD figure of 463,000, sets an Australian record whilst attracting the highest total TV audience since the 2019 origin series.

Initially setting the record with 425,000 BOVD viewers, Game 1 of the series, was trumped by the Origin decider’s BOVD intake of 463,000.

The Origin Decider played 13 July, saw a national average audience of 2.585 million viewers on Linear TV, including the BOVD 463,000 figure, viewership totalled 3.048 million.

Streaming via 9Now, the live stream audience saw a 74% uptake in viewers compared to the 2021 series.

Nine, Director of Sport, Director of sport, Brent Williams said: “To break the record for the highest live streamed event in Australia not once, but twice, in the same series is an incredible achievement.”

“Congratulations to the NRL and the players involved in last night’s state of origin decider,” Williams said.

The decider saw the Queensland Maroons take the series in a 22-10 win.
