The company is set to bring speed, excitement, and technology to one of Australia’s most popular sporting events.

The Australian Grand Prix, Supercar team Mobil 1 Optus Racing, and Optus will collaborate on a range of activities to surprise and delight customers and fans throughout the event.

This includes the OPTU5G VR Track Tour, where fans can take a virtual tour and flyover of Albert Park with Optus’ chief of optimism, Daniel Ricciardo.

Commenting on the partnership, Australian Grand Prix Corporation GM of sales and commercial, Darian Misko, said: “We’re excited to team up with Optus once again in 2023 to provide fans with an exhilarating virtual reality experience that will get them as close to driving an F1® car as possible, with none other than Daniel Ricciardo cheering them on.”

“Fans will be able to soak in the entirety of Albert Park while driving at extreme speeds, making for an unforgettable event,” he said.

Optus’ Managing Director of Marketing and Revenue, Matt Williams, said: ““At Optus, we’re all about bringing our customers fast speeds, which is why we’re thrilled to be partnering with the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix™ 2023.”

“Just like our 5G network, Daniel and Chaz embody the Optus ethos of speed, innovation and performance which makes them the perfect partners to work with on this grand-scale racing event in Melbourne.

“In addition to all the exciting activities set to take place in the lead up to the event, we’re also showcasing our Optus 5G on the track, using VR technology with the OPTU5G VR Track Tour.

“Optus is planning an experience like no other for fans that will be sure to wow the crowds and leave a lasting impression, building on its ambition to become Australia’s most loved everyday brand with lasting customer relationships,” he said.

Fans will also have the opportunity to engage with the driver and current Supercars Championship leader Chaz Mostert.

As a major partner, Optus will leverage in-event and F1 precinct branding and engagement opportunities with a bespoke Optus pit-lane suite.
