ichmond’s inaugural AFLW major partner, nib health funds (nib), has re-committed as a joint major partner of the club’s AFLW team for the 2021 season.

Nib has been a joint major partner of the AFL club since 2018, and will once again appear on the back of both the Richmond AFL and AFLW jumpers in 2021.

Richmond chief executive officer, Brendan Gale, said he was excited to continue the partnership with nib as part of the club’s AFLW journey.

“Nib has shown a fantastic commitment to diversity and gender-equality through their business and employee programs, this partnership helps our women’s players to succeed and be the best footballers they can be,” Gale said.

“As a valued partner, nib has played a prominent part in our journey into AFLW, and they are fittingly represented on the back of our jumpers in every game we play,” he said.

Nib will also continue to support the club’s digital platforms to tell the stories of AFLW players in 2021, building on the content created last year to introduce Richmond’s inaugural women’s team to members, supporters, and the broader public.

“We cannot wait to tell the stories of more of our women’s players and to give our fans an insight into our women’s program and what we are all about, thanks to the support of nib,” Gale said.

Nib chief executive of Australian Residents Health Insurance, Edward Close, said nib is pleased to support both the male and female AFL teams.

“We actively support diversity so it’s only fitting that we get behind these exceptional players’ for another year to continue to bring women’s sport to the forefront,” Close said.

“We’re also looking forward to continuing the off-field action with Richmond, creating digital content geared at showcasing the talents and leadership of our women’s players to help grow female participation in sport and role model healthy behaviours across our communities,” he said.

The partnership will also see nib continue to drive diversity and engagement events for their employees, using Richmond AFLW personnel.

The deal comes not long after Richmond won the 2020 AFL Grand Final, which Edward close told Ministry of Sport boosted the value of the partnership even further, click here to read more.
