NHL Power Players Program Opens Applications for Young Hockey Fans

For the 5th year , The National Hockey League (NHL) has announced the opening of applications for its NHL Power Players™ youth advisory board program. The program brings together young hockey fans, aged 13-17, to provide honest and impartial suggestions and opinions on various topics important to their generation. The NHL will select 25 candidates from across the US and Canada based on their creative ideas for their local communities, the sport in general, social media, and fan-driven content. The selected candidates will serve as advisors for one season, corresponding to the 2023-24 NHL season.

The NHL Power Players™ program aims to engage young fans in the US and Canada and provide them with the opportunity to learn about the business side of sports while making valuable connections with fellow NHL Power Players. The program will help the NHL increase fandom amongst fans aged 17 and under, by providing insights and feedback from the next generation of hockey fans.

Participants of the NHL Power Players™ program will also be eligible for exclusive NHL merchandise, featured in league marketing, and invited to attend NHL tentpole events. The program has been running for five consecutive years, with alumni from the 2022-23 program also being eligible to apply.

NHL Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, Heidi Browning, stated that the NHL Power Players bring valuable insights and feedback to the league, and the program allows the NHL to learn more about the interests and behaviours of the next generation of hockey fans.
