Netflix has appointed global sports marketing and production leader IMG as its official production partner for its exclusive United States and Canada broadcasting rights of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
Scheduled to run from June twenty-fourth to July twenty-fifth, 2027, the tournament marks the first time the prestigious women’s football showcase will be hosted in South America, while also serving as Netflix’s most ambitious live sports production to date under a rights agreement spanning both the 2027 and 2031 editions.
IMG will manage comprehensive coverage across all sixty-four matches, delivering more than one hundred hours of bespoke studio programming supported by elite talent and exclusive in-tournament commentary teams.
Broadcasts will be tailored across multiple languages, featuring English and Spanish options in the United States alongside English and French services in Canada, with production support also extending to the tournament’s official Final Draw on December eleventh, 2026.
From a commercial and standpoint, the partnership underscores the escalating commercial valuation and global broadcast reach of women’s professional sport, enabling Netflix to scale its live sports footprint rapidly by leveraging IMG’s established production infrastructure.
President of IMG, Adam Kelly, highlighted the immense cultural significance of the agreement for global media rights and sports organisations.
“The FIFA Women’s World Cup is one of the fastest-growing events in global sport, showcasing the best football and captivating new audiences worldwide.”
“As Netflix makes its live football debut, we’re excited to help bring this tournament – and its extraordinary athletes – to new and existing fans in the U.S and Canada.
“Netflix’s scale, discoverability and storytelling, combined with IMG’s best-in-class production expertise, make this a huge moment for football and women’s sport,” Kelly stated.
As a subsidiary of TKO Group Holdings, IMG brings extensive multi-channel production expertise managing rights and distribution for premier sports properties including Major League Soccer, the English Football League, the WTA Tour, and UEFA competitions.
By integrating digital discoverability with premier live production, the collaboration sets a new benchmark for commercial broadcasting in women’s sport.
