Organisers of the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 (NWC2027) have confirmed that Afterpay Arena—formerly known as Qudos Bank Arena—in Sydney Olympic Park will serve as the exclusive host venue for the entire flagship international tournament.
Running from 25 August to 5 September 2027, the 12-day event will feature 64 matches involving the world’s top 16 national netball teams, with all fixtures executed on a single, venue-wide court installation.
The single-court operational model aims to optimise event presentation, elevate real-time broadcast production values, and unify match-day operations, hospitality, and athlete spaces under one footprint.
The venue holds historical significance for international netball, having set an all-time sport attendance record of 16,752 spectators during the 2015 Netball World Cup final between Australia and New Zealand.
chief executive officer of Netball World Cup Sydney 2027, Jane Fernandez, stated that consolidating match play inside a premier indoor stadium serves as a strategic driver to elevate the commercial benchmark for women’s elite sport.
“Staging the entire tournament at Afterpay Arena is a defining moment for the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027.”
“The arena provides the perfect stage to deliver a world-class event, with enhanced broadcast capabilities, elevated match-day entertainment and an unforgettable fan experience, while ensuring every player has the opportunity to compete on the sport’s biggest stage.
“Every decision we are making is driven by a bold vision to redefine what a global netball event can be. From our contemporary brand identity to hosting every match on the same court, we’re crafting a tournament that showcases the very best of the sport while setting a new benchmark for the future of international netball,” Fernandez said.
CEO of Ticketek Entertainment Group, Cameron Hoy, emphasised the scope required to market a multi-national indoor championship.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 for its return to Sydney.”
“Managing a global tournament with 16 competing nations requires proven international expertise, scalable infrastructure and an end-to-end operational approach, and that is what Ticketek brings.
“Having ticketed the event during its last Australian run in 2015, alongside a long track record with premier global events, we understand what this tournament means to the netball community, and we look forward to delivering a world-class experience once again,” Hoy said.
The commercial and venue operations for NWC2027 are anchored by major private sector and public institution commitments:
Official ticket inventory releases and complete match schedules are slated to follow the formal tournament pool draw in December 2026.
