Netball Australia extends partnership with Origin Energy ahead of Nations Cup debut

Netball Australia has reaffirmed its collaboration with Origin Energy, one of Australia’s leading energy companies, by renewing their sponsorship deal.

Origin Energy will continue as the official naming rights partner for the Origin Australian Diamonds, a commitment that extends into their debut appearance in the 2024 Netball Nations Cup on Sunday.

This marks the fifth consecutive year of the partnership, with the Origin Energy logo prominently featured on all playing and training jerseys. Additionally, Origin Energy will maintain its significant role as a major sponsor of the Suncorp Super Netball League, further solidifying its presence in the pinnacle of domestic netball competition.

The partnership between Origin Energy and Netball Australia was initially forged in 2020, aiming to elevate netball as the premier team sport for Australian women and girls, spanning from grassroots to elite levels.

“Together with Origin, we will continue to grow the sport of netball in Australia from the grassroots through to our Origin Australian Diamonds,” remarked Netball Australia’s interim CEO Stacey West.

“The Origin Australian Diamonds have won every major tournament they’ve played in the past two-and-a-half years, including being crowned Commonwealth Games gold medallists and World Champions, and with the ongoing support of Origin will continue to make Australia proud.’’

Origin Australian Diamonds defender Joanna Weston added: “It’s really exciting to have Origin re-sign as our naming rights partner. We’ve been incredibly lucky to have had Origin’s support for the past four years and we wouldn’t be on the court without them.”

Origin Energy’s General Manager of Marketing, Catherine Anderson, emphasised the company’s delight in extending the partnership and continuing support for the Origin Australian Diamonds and the premier domestic competition. Anderson highlighted the success of the past four years, building a strong relationship with Netball Australia and contributing to the growth of one of Australia’s most beloved sports.

“The Origin Australian Diamonds have enjoyed significant success on the court through this period, as well as being excellent role models within the community,” Anderson enthused.

“We’re excited to continue to help grow netball in Australia and work together to create good change in sport.”

The Origin Australian Diamonds, as the top-seeded team, will kick off their Netball Nations Cup journey this Sunday in London against New Zealand. Following this, they will face England and, for the first time in history, Uganda.
