NBL lands partnership with Twitter for Preseason Blitz

Twitter has partnered with the National Basketball league ahead of the NBL Blitz, to bring fans all the live action from its preseason tournament.

The biggest names in Australian basketball will be brought together through this Preseason Blitz, with Bendigo Stadium to host four games on Thursday and Ballarat Minerdome to host eight games on Saturday and Sunday.

In another first for the NBL, all of the games will be streamed live via Twitter, as well as on NBL TV. The NBL Blitz will be available to Twitter users globally for free via @NBL, whether they are logged-in or logged-out.

Twitter’s Head of Sports Partnerships Australia, Olly Wilton, said: “Twitter is where sports stories break and passionate fans connect every day.

“We know from the conversation on Twitter there is a huge appetite for basketball content.

“Live streaming the NBL Blitz makes it easier than ever for fans to see how their teams are shaping up ahead of the season and expose the league to new audiences.”

The live streams will use Live Graphics Systems (LIGR) cutting-edge technology, for the first time, to deliver an automated live production that maximises engagement with fans and allows streaming from regional locations.

The NBL preseason tournament will lead into the next round of NBLxNBA games in the USA starting on September 28 and the start of the 2018-2019 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season on October 11.
