NBA, WNBA Renew Partnership With Buzzer

The NBA and WNBA have announced a partnership extension with short-form live sports platform, Buzzer, who will continue to distribute the leagues’ streaming services, NBA League Pass and WNBA League Pass.

The deal will see Buzzer offer fans with a novel way of accessing both leagues, including live moments and personalised notifications curated to their interests.

Commenting on the partnership, Buzzer founder and CEO, Bo Han, said: “Our renewal with the NBA and WNBA builds off last seasons’ success in reaching younger generation fans who opt for shorter-form content and tend to be more player-centric.”

“Our average user is 25 years old, which demonstrates how our platform can drive new, younger audiences, engagement, and revenue to leagues while also complementing distribution platforms.

“Buzzer reduces friction and makes it easier to watch live NBA and WNBA League Pass games by providing access to Moments via microtransactions and now also with redeemable credits at an equivalent price point across the platform.

“We will continue to build products that deepen the fan experience and expand as a multi-sport, aggregated platform,” Han said.

Additionally, Buzzer will provide multiple partial-game packages to fans to reinforce the leagues’ commitment to reaching younger audiences.

The announcement comes after NBA Africa launched the league’s first physical store in Johannesburg.
