he NBA will be carrying out a multi-year extension of its official betting data partnerships with rival companies Sportradar and Genius Sports Group (GSG), which began in November 2018.

The two companies will continue holding non-exclusive rights to distribute the official NBA and WNBA betting data to betting operators in the U.S., with over 20 partnerships currently operating.

The partnership will cover the WNBA and NBA regular season and playoffs, with both companies allowed to distribute betting data products to platform providers and licensed sports betting operators.

Genius Sports CEO, Mark Locke, said “we now have the firepower”, when commenting on the Special-Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) route to go public.

Similarly, the NHL gambling data was acquired by Sportradar in August, in a ten-year, USD$355 million contract.

The GSG has also recently carried out a USD$2 billion merge with SPAC dMY Technology Group II, and confirmed plans to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

NBA senior nice president and head of fantasy and gaming, Scott Kaufman-Ross, said: “over the past two seasons, Sportradar and Genius Sports Group have been sources for official NBA betting data, which is crucial for authorised gaming operators and ultimately fans who engage with NBA and WNBA games through betting.”

“The US sports betting industry has recognised the value of official data, particularly for in-play betting, and these extensions will ensure operators continue to have access to our real-time feed as sports betting develops throughout the US,” he said.
