The Major League Baseball (MLB) in partnership with the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Braves Foundation, has unveiled the 2025 All-Star Legacy initiative, designed to ensure that the 2025 MLB All-Star Week will generate a lasting impact across Atlanta’s communities.

Supported by MLB Together and longstanding community partners, this initiative represents a substantial investment of over USD$4 million (AUD$6.2 million) directed towards enhancing access to baseball and softball for youth, aiding veterans, and introducing sustainable food resources to underserved populations.

Commenting on the partnership, MLB’s senior vice president of Social Responsibility, April Brown, said: “Partnering with the Atlanta Braves for the 2025 All-Star Legacy initiative is more than a collaboration – it’s a shared commitment to helping local communities through access and innovation.”

“This year’s Legacy initiative reflects the core values of MLB Together, delivering enduring impact through ongoing commitments to youth empowerment, veteran support, and inclusive programming while honouring the Braves’ deep-rooted dedication to the greater Atlanta community,” Brown said.

Vice president of community affairs, executive director of the Atlanta Braves Foundation, Danielle Bedasse, added:” “The mission of the Atlanta Braves Foundation is to build community through baseball, and we want the legacy of All-Star Week in Atlanta to leave an impact on this community that can extend for generations.”

The 2025 All-Star Legacy Projects will be prominently featured in the lead-up to the 95th MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard.

Since the All-Star Legacy initiative’s inception in 1997, MLB and affiliated clubs have contributed nearly USD$120 million (AUD$186 million) to benefit local communities.

Key Projects Under the 2025 All-Star Legacy Initiative:

  • Field Renovation at Rhyne Park Softball Complex: This project aims to enhance the softball playing experience in Cobb County by renovating facilities for local youth leagues. In collaboration with Cobb PARKS and the Rhyne Park Girls Softball Association, improvements will include three new turf fields, a batting cage, upgraded fencing, and more, creating year-round access for young athletes.
  • Camp Southern Ground Warrior Fitness Trailer: In collaboration with musician Zac Brown, this mobile unit will serve veterans through fitness programs focused on mental and physical wellness. Operating from Camp Southern Ground’s facility in Fayetteville, the initiative aims to assist transitioning veterans and promote community among them.
  • Sensory Space at Truist Park: A designated sensory space will be created at Truist Park, catering to fans with neurodivergent and sensory needs. This facility will be available during game days to provide a calming environment for those requiring a sensory respite.
  • Leila Valley Community Farm Volunteer Event Powered by Food Well Alliance: This innovative farm will be established at an undeveloped site in southeast Atlanta, with the potential to supply tens of thousands of pounds of fresh produce annually to local housing residents. Volunteers from MLB, the Braves, and Food Well Alliance will engage in the groundwork for sustainable food sources.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta Barksdale Baseball Field Renovation: This partnership aims to rejuvenate the baseball facilities at the A.R. Gus Boys & Girls Club, enhancing security and infrastructure while supporting youth engagement in baseball.

The All-Star Legacy initiative will also fund critical national partners such as The Jackie Robinson Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Stand Up To Cancer.

Additional community-focused activities planned for the 2025 All-Star Week will encompass support for military families, initiatives for children and young adults with special needs, and environmental sustainability efforts.
