Melbourne United and Walyalup Football Club Announce Strategic Shifts

Melbourne United has commenced a new era following a landmark ownership restructure.

The transaction values the club at a record $50 million, the highest valuation for an Australian basketball organisation to date.

In the AFL, the Fremantle Football Club has announced it will once again adopt the name Walyalup Football Club for the 2026 Sir Doug Nicholls Rounds.

Duration: The club will officially be known as Walyalup from Monday 11 May until Monday 25 May.
Fixtures: During this period, Walyalup is scheduled to face Essendon at the MCG on Sunday 17 May, followed by a clash against Euro-Yroke (St Kilda) at Optus Stadium on Friday 22 May.
Identity: Walyalup represents the Noongar country in and around the Fremantle region.
Design: The specific Walyalup Club logo was created by former player and current NGA Coach Roger Hayden.
Partnership: The initiative is supported by Indigenous Program partner Woodside Energy as part of the club’s ongoing Reconciliation Action Plan.
