The 2026 Formula 1 season opener has officially turned the city of Melbourne into a commercial playground, with a various stuff of brand activations stretching from the Albert Park circuit to the heart of the central business district.
Running since yesterday (March 5) through Sunday (March 8), the event is acting as a catalyst for a projected boost to the Victorian visitor economy. This year’s festival is defined by a shift toward lifestyle and luxury integration.
At the centre of the commercial strategy is the high-profile arrival of the Audi Revolut F1 Team and the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, both of whom are making their Australian debuts.
Audi has established a flagship floating showroom at Arbory Afloat on the Yarra River, featuring its R26 show car and immersive spatial film experiences delivered via Apple Vision Pro.
Simultaneously, Tommy Hilfiger has partnered with Cadillac to launch a dedicated fan pop-up at Melbourne Emporium, leveraging the fashion brand’s global reach to introduce the American team to the Australian market through exclusive merchandise and digital simulators.
The footprint of the event has expanded to ensure maximum engagement with Melbourne’s diverse demographics.
Federation Square serves as a primary gathering point for the public, hosting the free F1 Fan Festival for twelve hours daily until ten in the evening.
This hub allows the thousand of fans who were unable to secure tickets to the sold-out weekend sessions to engage with the sport via live screenings and interactive activations.
Further south in St Kilda, the McLaren Mastercard F1 Team has partnered with Puma to launch an all-ages pop-up at West Beach Pavilion, showcasing their 2026 show car alongside competitive racing simulators.
Hospitality and entertainment partnerships have also reached new heights, with the Lakeside Festival inside Albert Park featuring three nights of global headline acts including Basement Jaxx, Rita Ora, and Duke Dumont.
This focus on premium entertainment is echoed in St Kilda at the historic Esplanade Hotel, where Jack Daniel’s has secured the Gershwin Room to host nightly live music from high-profile Australian artists such as The Presets and Slowly Slowly.
