Melbourne Stars Unveil New First Nations Jersey for Summer Season

Melbourne Stars have revealed their new First Nations jersey for the upcoming summer cricket season, designed by Wurundjeri artist Alex Kerr and inspired by the cultural identity and landscape of the club’s community.

The artwork incorporates references to the Stars’ supporter base, Melbourne’s natural environment, and the MCG as a central meeting place.

The jersey also features a tribute to fan favourite Scott Boland, who has Gulidjan heritage. Boland played a role in the design consultation process and said the final result is something the team will proudly represent.

Expressing enthusiasm on the jersey announcement, Boland, said: “It’s nice to be able to have a really small part in this design.”

“All credit goes to Alex, the artist, who’s done an amazing job.

“I think it’s going to be a jersey that we can proudly showcase at the ’G when we play,” Boland said.

The jersey will first appear on-field during the WBBL fixture against the Sydney Thunder at the CitiPower Centre on 6 December, before being worn by the BBL team during its home match against the Adelaide Strikers at the MCG on 13 January.

As part of the launch, fans who purchase the jersey before 18 November will receive two complimentary tickets to the January MCG game.
