Melbourne Stars Announce New General Manager

The Melbourne Stars have announced the appointment of Max Abbott as their new general manager, marking an important transition for the club.

Abbott arrives with extensive experience, having previously served in esteemed positions at the ICC and Cricket Australia.

Cricket Victoria CEO, Nick Cummins, highlighted Abbott as the standout candidate amidst a highly competitive selection process.

“Max’s global cricket experience was particularly appealing to the selection committee. His innate understanding of world-class events, demonstrated through his involvement in six ICC tournaments over the past seven years, as well as his consulting work for Cricket Australia, strengthens his candidacy,” Cummins said.

He further noted, “Max is a terrific individual with deep connections across the cricketing landscape, including players, administrators, broadcasters, and fans. This network will be invaluable as he aims to steer the club towards sustained success, both on and off the field.”

On his appointment, Abbott, said: “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead Melbourne Stars ahead of what will be a massive summer for the game in 2025/26. Cricket has always been a significant part of my life, spanning from grassroots levels to ICC global events. I look forward to leveraging that experience in my role with the Stars.”

“With some of the best players in the world across both the women’s and men’s rosters, I’m excited about the potential achievements in the coming seasons,” he said.
