Melbourne has been selected as the host city for the 2026 Special Olympics Australia National Games. The event will welcome 1,000 athletes competing in 12 sports, offering a platform for inclusion and excellence in sport.
Scheduled for October 2026, the Games will coincide with the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics in Australia and will be held at Albert Park, taking advantage of Melbourne’s world-class facilities and accessibility.
Led by experienced National Games Director John Palmer, the event will bring together athletes, volunteers, and partners to showcase the achievements of participants and celebrate inclusion through sport.
