Major League Baseball Announces CBD Partner

Major League Baseball (MLB) has entered an agreement with Charlotte’s Web, a producer of CBD supplements.

Prior to the agreement, Charlotte’s Web’s products had to undergo a lengthy review and approval process by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in their ‘Certified for Sport’ initiative.

The supplements assist muscle recovery, sleeping patterns and regulating emotions to perform under pressure.

Commenting on the approval process, NSF principal technical manager, John Travis, said: “MLB showed great trust in the NSF mark earlier this year when it named NSF Certified for Sport as the standard CBD brands must meet in order to sponsor MLB and its teams.”

“The Charlotte’s Web and MLB partnership promotes clean sport and closely aligns with NSF’s mission to improve human health worldwide,” he said.

The agreement coincides with the release of Charlotte’s Web’s Daily Edge tincture, the first in a line of sport-specific products.

Discussing the untapped sporting market, Charlotte’s Web CEO, Jacques Tortoroli, said: “We applaud MLB for being the first-mover in professional sports CBD and are thrilled to welcome their league as a respected strategic partner.”

“Bridging our industry-leading brands with science, innovation, and education, this pioneering partnership validates Charlotte’s Web’s core business principle and founding mission to open access to safe, quality and consistent CBD through our proprietary hemp genetics and industry-forging vision,” he said.

The announcement comes after the UFC signed a CBD partner in 2021.
