Macca’s On Your Team has partnered with Basketball Tasmania, to deliver a series of basketball camps in order to keep kids active these school holidays.

Launched in 2016, the Macca’s On Your Team program sees McDonald’s Victoria provide essential sporting equipment to selected community soccer, basketball and AFL clubs.

Since then, Maccas has provided $1.68 million worth of equipment to clubs and schools in the community.

Now, through this program, children from the ages of 9 to 14 years, are invited to develop their ball skills and receive coaching from Basketball Tasmania’s high-performance athletes and development staff.

The camp will be held in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport on April 27th and 28th.

The media release read: “McDonald’s Tasmania sees this as an exciting opportunity to support basketball, one of the highest participated sports in Tasmania, at a grassroots level while encouraging physical activity and teamwork.”

Basketball Tasmania state head coach and development manager, Nic Martin, said he was looking forward to seeing a large turnout.

“These camps are a perfect way for kids to keep active over the school holidays while having the opportunity to develop their skills alongside their friends.”

“Macca’s On Your Team has been an incredibly supportive partner and I look forward to working with kids across all skill levels during these camps,” Martin said.

Macca’s restaurants are also a major supporter of Little Athletics in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, a major sponsor of the South Australian National Football League junior development program and Swimming Australia.

Maccas states that these partnerships are designed to provide inclusive sport, increase participation and encourage kids to lead an active lifestyle.
