Louis Vuitton Returns as Title Partner for 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona
Louis Vuitton, the iconic French fashion house, is making a grand return as the Title Partner for the 37th edition of the America’s Cup, the world’s most prestigious sailing competition.
This world-renowned event is a celebration of innovation and heritage, reflecting the core values shared by the luxury brand and the historic race. The Louis Vuitton Cup regattas, serving as the precursor to the final series of races, are set to unfold from August 29 to October 7, 2024.
Five prominent Challengers, including Ineos Britannia, Alinghi Red Bull Racing, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, NYYC American Magic and Orient Express Racing, will compete for the honour of challenging the America’s Cup defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, in the waters off Barcelona’s iconic Port Vell.
The collaboration between Louis Vuitton and the America’s Cup embodies a dedication to the art of sailing combined with a commitment to elegance and adventure. It’s also a celebration of innovation that respects and pays homage to tradition.
Louis Vuitton’s involvement goes beyond naming rights. The prestigious fashion house will craft the coveted Louis Vuitton Cup Trophy, a role it has proudly held since 1983. In addition, Louis Vuitton’s historic atelier in Asnières will produce two bespoke Trophy Trunks. One will safeguard the Auld Mug, the esteemed trophy dating back to 1851 awarded to the America’s Cup winner. The second trunk will house the Louis Vuitton Cup, presented to the winner of the Challenger series since its inception.
Pietro Beccari, President and CEO of Louis Vuitton, expressed immense pride in rejoining this historic competition as Title Partner. He emphasised that the event in Barcelona will showcase a fusion of elegance and power, with teams demonstrating boldness and mastery on increasingly innovative yachts. These values resonate with the spirit of Louis Vuitton and its artisans.
The event promises to be a spectacle that marries modern luxury with timeless tradition, featuring some of the world’s most advanced sailing yachts gliding across the Mediterranean Sea, backed by the artistry and craftsmanship of Louis Vuitton.
Louis Vuitton’s return for the 37th America’s Cup is a valuable addition to the Challenger Selection Series, as confirmed by Grant Dalton, CEO of America’s Cup Event.
