Women’s National Basketball Association’s (WNBA) Los Angeles Sparks have signed a new jersey sponsorship with UCLA Health, making them their official healthcare partner.

The multi-year, seven-figure jersey deal will see the UCLA Health logo feature on team jerseys from the start of the 2022 season.

UCLA Health signage will be displayed around the Spark’s home games at Crypto.com Arena, while the organisation’s medical team will also act as the team’s official physicians.

UCLA Health president, chief executive of the UCLA Hospital System, and associate vice chancellor of UCLA Health Services, Johnese Spisso said: “We’re proud to partner with the LA Sparks, a world-class team that has shown its commitment to equity, justice and improving mental and physical health.”

“Our collaboration strengthens our commitment to serving greater Los Angeles and allows both our teams to empower women and families throughout the community,” Johnese said.

Los Angeles Sparks managing partner, Eric Holoman, added: “This is a historic partnership for the LA Sparks organisation.”

“UCLA Health will provide world-class health care that our athletes need to compete at the professional level.

“They align with our community pillars of women’s empowerment and health and wellness.

“We’re proud to wear their logo on our uniforms and be part of their family,” Holoman said.

The Sparks also said they wish to work alongside UCLA health to develop initiatives in order to tackle health inequities in the Los Angeles metropolitan community.
