LaLiga has launched a media rights tender for free-to-air coverage in the United Kingdom, with two distinct packages available for British and Irish broadcasters.
The first package offers exclusive access to all LaLiga matches, while the second focuses on a free-to-air Sunday evening fixture at 8pm.
ITV Sport has held the free-to-air rights since the 2022-23 season under a three-year agreement, while Premier Sports currently holds exclusive rights to LaLiga matches in the UK and Ireland. However, with their deal set to expire this summer, the race is on for broadcasters to secure LaLiga’s coverage.
This tender is part of a broader offering from LaLiga, with several other markets—including Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Belgium, and Switzerland—also seeing media rights up for grabs, however, not all nations have LaLiga rights available this summer, making the UK and Ireland key areas of interest for prospective bidders.
In addition to LaLiga’s league action, Premier Sports has secured the UK broadcasting rights for the final stages of the Copa del Rey, where the pay-TV broadcaster will air the second legs of the semi-finals, featuring Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona and Real Madrid vs. Real Sociedad, in early April.
The final, set for April 26 at Seville’s 60,000-capacity Estadio De La Cartuja, will also be shown on Premier Sports.
