he Los Angeles Lakers have become the #1 selling NBA Finals champions in history after beating the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals.

Tying with the Boston Celtics for a record 17 NBA titles, the Lakers topped the previous year’s merchandise sales within the first 12 hours of winning the championship.

Highest selling jerseys were LeBron James, who won Finals MVP, and late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, which Fanatics currently carries six jersey variations of.

Bryant passed away in a helicopter accident at the beginning of the year.

In honour of Bryant, the Lakers added a patch with his initials to their jerseys.

The previous record-holder was the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, who defeated the 73-9 Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers have topped individual jersey and team merchandise sales lists since the introduction of the NBA bubble, with merchandise sold in over 110 countries, 85% of which are directly from mobile devices.

Forward Anthony Davis was the third highest-selling jersey, behind Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić.

James led the Lakers to the best record in the Western Conference and in the playoffs defeated the Portland Trailblazers, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets all in five games before beating Miami in six.
