he Ladies European Tour (LET) has confirmed its 2021 schedule, including 27 events with a combined record prize fund of more than €19 million (AUD$30 million).

This includes nine new events, with the first tournament set to take place in May this year.

An extra AUD$3.1 million has been added to the prize pool compared to the proposed 2020 funds, prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Investec South African Women’s Open will open the season from 13th-16th May, before moving to the first Aramco Team Series tournament in New York.

The Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana will host the finale again, while the Ladies Scottish Open has lost its title sponsor, with a venue for the tournament to be determined.

LET chief executive, Alexandra Armas, said it is exciting to be able to offer such substantial prize money amidst a financially-restrictive pandemic.

“The LET is dedicated to supporting our members and growing the game of golf to new and existing markets and we are proud to confirm the return of not only all postponed events, but the addition of several new and innovative tournaments, which shows just how much interest and momentum there is behind women’s sport,” Armas said.

“I would like to thank our sponsors, partners and all the federations that have shown their belief, vision and perseverance and we look forward to delivering an action-packed calendar for our international membership,” she said.

Tournaments will be played across 19 countries despite the existing concerns surrounding COVID-19, with all postponed tournaments from 2020 returning this year.
