National Football League franchise, the Houston Texans, have named 1800 Tequila as their official tequila and margarita partner, according to The Spirits Business.

An 1800 Tequila bar has been set up in the Texans’ NRG Stadium while a limited edition Texans tequila will be released in December.

1800 Tequila, owned by Proximo Spirits, are also offering fans the chance to win tickets, prizes and meet Texans athletes as part of a branded sweepstake.

Commenting on the partnership, Texans vice-president of corporate development, Jerry Angel, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with 1800 Tequila to bring unique experiences to our fans.”

“We’re looking forward to releasing the co-branded, limited edition 1800 Blanco bottle we designed together celebrating our exciting new partnership,” he said.

Proximo Spirits senior vice-president, Lander Otegui, added: “By teaming up with the Houston Texans, we are committed to bringing fans a taste of the world’s most awarded Tequila each and every game day.”

“Our brand and the team share a vibrant fanbase in Houston and are ready to bring the Tequila to the Houston Texans family,” he said.

Proximo also bought Conor McGregor’s whiskey company in 2021.
